The Regional Passport Office (RPO), Bhopal, Madhya Pradesh introduced Braille script and sign language services, becoming the first RPO in India to offer these accessibility features for differently-abled applicants. The initiative was inaugurated by B.S. Mubarak, Joint Secretary (Passport Seva Programme). Braille booklets explain the complete passport application process; Braille signage is installed for navigation; Sign Language videos guide hearing-impaired applicants on the application process.

PLI Scheme for Food Processing — ₹9,207 Crore Investment, 3.29 Lakh Jobs Created
The PLI (Production Linked Incentive) Scheme for Food Processing (FY22–FY27, outlay ₹10,900 crore) has achieved: ₹9,207 crore investment (exceeding target of ~₹7,000 crore); 34 lakh MT additional processing capacity; 3.29 lakh jobs generated; PLI product sales grew ~10.58% CAGR; exports grew ~7.41% CAGR. Millet-based product sales surged from ₹345 crore (2022–23) to ₹1,845 crore (2024–25).

CRPF Shaurya Diwas — 9 April 2026
CRPF Shaurya Diwas is observed on April 9 every year to honour the courage and supreme sacrifice of CRPF personnel. It commemorates the Battle of Sardar Post (April 9, 1965), when a small CRPF unit of 98 men fought off a Pakistani attack of 3,000+ troops in the Rann of Kutch. The Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF) is India's largest Central Armed Police Force under the Ministry of Home Affairs.

A new report by the World Inequality Lab titled "Land Inequality in India: Nature, History, and Markets" reveals high land concentration in rural India. Based on the Socio-Economic Caste Census (2011) covering 650 million individuals across 2.7 lakh villages. Key findings: Top 10% of rural households own 44% of total land; Top 5% own 32%; Top 1% control 18%. Gini Index is used to measure land inequality.

AMUL — 1st Indian FMCG Company to Cross ₹1 Lakh Crore Turnover in FY26
AMUL (Anand Milk Union Limited) became the first company in India's FMCG sector to achieve an annual turnover of over ₹1 lakh crore (₹1 trillion) in FY26, registering ~11% growth. The marketing arm GCMMF reported revenue of ₹73,450 crore (up from ₹65,911 crore in FY25). AMUL is managed by the Gujarat Cooperative Milk Marketing Federation (GCMMF).

India successfully demonstrated a 1,000-kilometre Quantum Key Distribution (QKD) network under the National Quantum Mission (NQM) — a major breakthrough in secure communication. The NQM was launched by Dept. of Science & Technology with a total outlay of ₹6,003 crore (2023–24 to 2030–31). Goals: Develop quantum computers with 50–1,000 physical qubits; establish pan-India quantum communications network spanning 2,000 km. Four Thematic Hubs (T-Hubs) established across top institutions. QKD hub led by IIT Madras in association with Centre for Development of Telematics, New Delhi.

PFBR Kalpakkam — Understanding Criticality (After April 6 Milestone)
India's Prototype Fast Breeder Reactor (PFBR) at Kalpakkam achieved criticality on April 6, 2026. Key concept: Criticality = beginning of a controlled nuclear chain reaction — NOT the final commercial stage.
